I once participated in an exercise where I was tasked to note all my surprises during the week. It was extremely helpful. It mapped when I projected something else and the reality turned out to be different. It helped me to realize that my mind is sometimes distorted or wrong, and it helped me to figure out ways of how it is doing so.
One of my favorite questions to ask other people is: "What surprised you?". What surprised you on your trip? In the movie? During the day? Last year?
